One of the hardest things to do in life is to smile especially when you don’t have that perfect pearly white teeth. To smile is one of the most important aspects of our life. For all we know, teeth whitening procedure is as old as the human civilization itself. Our modern civilization today is not only the ones concerned about making our teeth perfectly white but even the ancestors of the great ancestors of our great ancestors have been using this procedure already.   • The year was 1498 when the first “bristled” toothbrush came into existence in China. Its bristles were actually part of the back hair in the neck region of the famous Siberian hogs. The wandering Europeans were the first to notice these and also the first to bring it into their own homeland.

Nylon became a popular substitute for the animal’s hair but it was not until 1950 that soft nylon toothbrush bristles was introduced.
  • After a short period of time, another enhancement was introduced, the more convenient and easy to use electronic toothbrush. It was electronically operated but it was later subdued by the more convenient battery operated one. It has a motor in it that cause its bristles to automatically have its up and down motion when switched-on.

Modern Day Teeth-cleaning Situation


Since the discovery of nylon in the first trimester of the 20th century, teeth cleaning procedures as well as teeth whitening options have changed a little. Just be wise enough in choosing the best option available for you. Who knows, these procedures and techniques may linger for another 3000 years, just like the lowly but mighty “chew sticks”.
